Grief House Warsaw – Dom Ukojenia – Дім Полегшення
Community-based grief support for people of all backgrounds
At Grief House Warsaw we create a safe, calm space for people in mourning – including those who live far away from their family home. We meet in small groups, talk about loss, listen to one another and look for a bit of relief in the company of others.
Looking for grief support?
If you have lost someone close to you. If you live in Warsaw, but your family and friends are far away. If it is hard to talk about grief with the people around you – you can come to Grief House Warsaw. There is no “right moment” to look for support. A good time is when you feel you need it. You may be just after the loss, or many months or years later. You may want to talk, or simply sit among other people who are also living with grief.
What will you find at the Grief House Warsaw?
Grief Circles
Regular small group meetings where you can talk about your loss, listen to others or just be present. Each meeting has clear rules and is led by an experienced support group coach.
Psychoeducational meetings
Current knowledge about the grief process and its contemporary models, presented in an accessible way. These sessions allow you to confront your experiences with theory, better understand what you're going through, and release fears and unrealistic expectations (of other people).
Intercultural support
Grief House Warsaw is open to people from different countries and traditions. We can talk in Polish, English and Ukrainian, with respect for diverse experiences and customs around death and mourning.
Workshops and thematic meetings
Conversations about our loved ones, grief, memory, small rituals and different ways of living with loss. We combine up-to-date knowledge about grief with simple, accessible activities that make it easier to talk about it.
A place to rest
At Grief House Warsaw you can rest in a passive or active way: have a cup of tea, take a quiet moment for yourself or read supportive materials. If you feel you need movement, you can join specially designed body-based sessions for people in grief.

Who is this space for?
We invite adults who have experienced a loss and are looking for a safe place to pause and breathe, without fear of being judged, adviced and compared. From January to June 2026, meetings at Grief House Warsaw are free of charge. They are funded by the European Social Fund Plus under the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 programme. We welcome residents of Warsaw, regardless of their background.
How do we work?
We create safe conditions
Clear group guidelines, confidentiality and respect for different grief experiences.
We meet in small groups
Grief circles, workshops and creative activities – always with a facilitator and with the possibility to participate at your own level of comfort and involvement.
We offer support, not therapy
Grief House Warsaw is a community support space. When needed, we help people find specialised psychological or psychiatric care.
Upcoming meetings
See what we are planning in the coming weeks. Registration is required for some of the meetings.
Bereavement & grief resources
Information alone cannot replace another person, but it can help you better understand what is happening to you in grief. In our resource library you will find articles that explain grief in simple language, describe the rights of people in mourning, and offer ideas on how to seek support and take care of yourself during this time.
For partners and institutions
We work with social organisations, cultural institutions, and health and education centres. If you would like to organise a meeting about grief, a training session, or a series of events in your institution – write to us at: hello@griefhouse.community
