From Thread and Longing – Memory Amulets from the Clothes of Loved Ones Who Have Died
At the beginning of the meeting, participants will write a short letter to the person they miss, and then sew it inside a small hanging amulet made from that piece of clothing. In the calm rhythm of hand sewing, we will go through this process together, talking (or sitting in silence) about those we carry in our hearts.
You don't need to know how to sew. The facilitators will show simple patterns and provide support throughout the creative process.
Workshop materials (needles, thread, accessories) are provided. Bring the material you've chosen. – this could be a shirt, dress, t-shirt, cotton handkerchief etc. These could also be other small items (a clothing button, beads) which you may want to use to decorate your amulet.
This workshop is for those who want to give the clothes of loved ones a new, tender place.
