A Heart Made of Pieces. Mosaic Workshop for Grief

A mosaic is made from what was whole — and from what has fallen apart. Just like us, when we lose someone we love.
Grief House Warsaw and Ukoja art studio invite you to a shared workshop during which we will create mosaic pictures or coasters — a lasting keepsake in memory of someone we love. You are welcome to bring ceramics that belonged to a loved one — a saucer, a bowl, a cup. We will help you carefully break them and incorporate them into your own mosaic. You may also bring other small objects — buttons, beads, or other keepsakes — that you wish to preserve and honour by giving them a new form.
You do not need any experience with mosaic-making or any manual skills. We will guide you through the whole creative process.
All materials will be provided, but if you wish, you can also bring your own cherished objects — at the beginning of the workshop, we will decide together which of them can be included in the mosaic.

👥 Is this meeting for you?

Yes, if:
✓ you are grieving and looking for a space where you can simply be with your sadness
✓ you would like to honour the memory of a loved one in a creative, non-obvious way
✓ you need something for your hands to do so your mind can rest
✓ you have objects at home that belonged to someone important and want to give them a new form
✓ you would like to spend this time among people who understand what loss means

Admission is free of charge. The meeting is organised as part of the Inkubator Pomysłów programme, funded by the European Funds for Social Development.

Important:

  • The workshop is intended for people for whom at least 6 months have passed since the death of a loved one. This format has been designed for those who are no longer in the very earliest period of grief and feel ready to work with memory, objects, and symbolic remembrance within a creative group process.
  • The meeting will be held in Polish.
  • This meeting is a form of social support; it is not therapy. We do not give advice like “what you should do.” If you are in a severe crisis and need immediate help, please seek professional support.
The meeting will be facilitated by:

Marta (Marči) Rokita i Izabela Jachnicka

What has once broken can become something beautiful and full of meaning ♥
